Questions

Frequently asked questions

Plain answers to the questions people ask most often when they first call.

Before cleanup

What should I do right now?

If anyone is hurt or has died, call 911. Then close off the area, keep children and pets out, turn off fans blowing toward the room, and do not start cleaning.

When can cleanup start?

After law enforcement or the medical examiner releases the property. Ask the investigating officer when that will be.

Do I need to be there?

Not necessarily. We need access, one decision-maker by phone, and agreement on any personal items.

Cost and insurance

How much does it cost?

It depends on how much material is affected and how far fluids traveled. We give you a scope and price after looking at the area and before any work starts.

Will insurance pay?

Some homeowners and commercial policies cover biohazard cleanup. Call your insurer before work starts and ask. We can provide documentation for a claim.

Is there help for crime victims?

Tennessee's Criminal Injuries Compensation program can help eligible victims with some costs. Eligibility is decided by the state.

During and after

What happens to belongings?

Items in the affected area are sorted with you. What can be cleaned is cleaned and returned; nothing personal is thrown away without your decision.

Will the room be usable afterward?

It will be clean and safe, but some flooring or drywall may have been removed. Rebuilding is a separate step.

Where does the waste go?

Blood-contaminated materials are packaged as medical waste and sent for treatment and disposal through a permitted channel, not a dumpster.
